USC Fertility Participates in Fertile Hope’s “Hope Uncorked”

Downtown Physicians Are Gold Sponsors of Benefit for Second Year in a Row

LOS ANGELES, MARCH 27, 2008 – For the second consecutive year, USC Fertility is a Gold Sponsor of “Hope Uncorked,” the signature wine and food tasting event of Fertile Hope, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing reproductive information, support, and hope to cancer patients and survivors whose medical treatments present the risk of infertility.

“Hope Uncorked” will take place from 7-11 p.m. on April 5, 2008 at The Annex, Wolfgang Puck’s top-floor event space at the Kodak Theatre’s Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood. More than 300 of the region’s prominent physicians and distinguished professionals will enjoy exquisite wines paired with generous samplings of Puck’s signature dishes. Additional special features include a VIP sponsor lounge, sultry live music, an open bar, and a spectacular silent auction.

For the first time, the event will be highlighted by a celebrity design campaign with Psi Bands (stylish antinausea wrist bands) signed and decorated by celebrities who have been personally touched by issues surrounding cancer, fertility, and/or parenthood. Psi Bands (pronouced “sigh bands”) are fashionable, drugfree wrist bands that use acupressure to relieve nausea due to chemotherapy, morning sickness, motion sickness, and anesthesia.

“In light of USC Fertility’s new Fertility Preservation Program, my colleagues Dr. Richard Paulson and Dr. Kristin Bendikson and I are especially proud to help support ‘Hope Uncorked’ for a second consecutive year,” said Dr. Karine Chung, the founder and director of USC Fertility’s recently created initiative, whose mission is to increase awareness of, accessibility to, and availability of comprehensive fertility preservation and reproductive options for female cancer patients. “Like Fertile Hope, USC Fertility is committed not only to improving the lives of cancer patients undergoing treatment but to preserving men and women’s dreams of one day welcoming a new baby into their family.”
