Drs. Richard J. Paulson and John K. Jain welcome new private practice colleague Karine Chung, MD, MS
Los Angeles, August 15, 2005 – USC Fertility is pleased to announce the recent arrival of third partner-physician, Doctor Karine Chung.
Chung joins USC Fertility from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania, where she completed her subspecialty training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, gaining excellent skills in specialized gynecologic procedures and advanced laparoscopic techniques. While pursuing this subspecialty training, she also earned a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology.
She is the author of several articles and chapters related to the field of obstetrics and gynecology, including a prize paper on fertility preservation in male patients with cancer.

In addition to fulfilling her duties at USC Fertility, Chung serves as assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.

Chung’s chief interests include optimizing outcomes in pregnancies achieved through assisted reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization, as well as a particular focus on conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome and endometriosis. She has remained active in training medical students and residents, and has received recognition for her teaching abilities. She is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
Chung received her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Wesleyan University in Connecticut in 1994, followed by her medical degree at the Ohio State University in 1998. She then completed her specialty training in obstetrics and gynecology at New York University and Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City.
She possesses a solid working knowledge of conversational Mandarin. Chung and her family have relocated to Los Angeles. Married, with one child, she was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. Her father was a successful surgeon there following his training in Taiwan, where he met Chung’s mother, a nurse.
