The New ASRM Website

The internet has revolutionized medical care while having a tremendous impact on patients who are having issues conceiving. For a man or a woman with infertility, the internet can be a wonderful way to connect with other people who are undergoing similar issues and treatments in order to share fertility experiences, provide support, and gather advice.

The internet also serves as a powerful place to collect information and to learn more about the causes of infertility, the diagnostic workup, and treatment options.

The downside is that there is a lot of information on the web that is inaccurate and incomplete—and that, in turn, can cause patients unnecessary anxiety and worry.

The American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM)—a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of the art, science, and practice of reproductive medicine—has made it a priority to provide patients with accurate and complete information on reproductive health and fertility issues. ASRM members must demonstrate the high ethical principles of the medical profession; evince an interest in infertility, reproductive medicine, and biology; and adhere to the objectives of the Society. All of our physicians here at USC Fertility are members of ASRM.

ASRM has launched a new website that can be accessed directly atwww.reproductivefacts.org or via the patient resources area of www.asrm.org.

This new website is full of information that is valuable to couples suffering from infertility and to any individual dealing with issues related to women’s reproductive health.

There are headline links to the latest media stories revolving around fertility, reports on recent results of clinical research studies having a direct impact on patient care, and book reviews of titles dedicated to the reproductive health.

ASRM has also included links to all the fact sheets and booklets it has published, giving patients (and those who love them) direct access to a wealth of information.

One of the most exciting features of the website is a topic index that not only provides descriptive information but also links to media coverage and research in that specific area.

Because fertility is a shared journey between patient and physician, we at USC Fertility want our patients to be as well informed as possible so that they can make the best decisions possible regarding their treatment and care.

This new and exciting website provides a safe environment where men and women can confidently gather information they can trust to be accurate.
