Meet Rachel Blair Danis MD, one of the amazing fellows at USC Fertility
Our Southern California fertility center has two goals. The first is to make parenthood possible for our patients, and the second is to train the next generation of fertility doctors. Rachel Blair Danis MD is one of our fellows. Having completed her training in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN), she is now working with our reproductive endocrinologists.
Dr. Danis plans to focus her career on managing the complex causes of infertility, providing fertility preservation services and educating her patients on their reproductive health. Recently, she was highlighted in Vitality, an industry publication from the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society (PCRS). Read on to learn what she had to say about everything from her passion for infertility care to her research.
Dr. Danis talked about her passion for reproductive medicine in Vitality
Rachel Blair Danis MD is currently starting her third year of fellowship at our Southern California fertility center. She attended an all-women’s college for undergrad (Go Barnard!), so she thought she might enjoy working in a field that focused on women’s health. After she completed a summer internship at Weill Cornell’s Center for Reproductive Medicine, she was convinced.
“[Reproductive medicine] satisfied, and continues to satisfy, my passions,” Dr. Danis explains. “The cerebral thought-processing that goes into the field is how I like to learn and interpret medical knowledge. I [also] have the honor of taking care of women under emotional, very personal circumstances.”
Rachel Blair Danis MD also mentioned her passion for research
When Dr. Danis isn’t focusing on patient care at our Southern California fertility center, she’s committed to research. She views it as a way to expand her reach and help infertility patients around the country and the world.
This past year, she gave an oral presentation at the Society for Reproductive Investigation (SRI) and presented a poster at PCRS. Not only that, she recently received approval to move forward with a clinical research study about Elagolix, a medication used to treat endometriosis pain.
